Dr. Samira Musah

Presenter

Dr. Samira Musah, Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Duke University

Prof. Samira Musah is a stem cell biologist and a bioengineer. Her research focuses on uncovering the molecular and cellular basis of human organ development and function, and how these processes can be therapeutically harnessed to treat human disease. Prof. Musah completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University where she worked jointly with Prof. Donald E. Ingber and Prof. George M. Church and she received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she worked with Dr. Laura L. Kiessling (now a professor at MIT). Prof. Musah is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Whitehead Scholarship in Biomedical Research, Baxter's Young Investigator Award (top tier), Burroughs Wellcome Fund Career Transition Award, Dean's Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, Keystone Symposia Fellowship, CPRIT Scholarship, NIH Chemical-Biology Training Grant, NIH/NIDDK Nephrology Research Fellowship, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and was recently named an MIT Rising Star in Biomedical Engineering.
