Speakers
Symposium Keynote Speaker
William E. Moerner, PhD
Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2014)
Harry S. Mosher Professor of Chemistry and
Professor by courtesy of Applied Physics
Department of Chemistry
Stanford University, Stanford, California
Dr. Moerner was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2014) for his contributions in the development of super-resolved fluorescence microscopy. Optical study of single molecules has subsequently become a widely used single-molecule experiment in chemistry, physics and biology. In 2014 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Plenary Speaker
Russell H. Taylor, PhD
John C. Malone Professor of Computer Science
with joint appointments in Radiology, Mechanical Engineering and Surgery
Director, Laboratory for Computational Sensing and Robotics
Director, Engineering Research Center for Computer-Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology
The John Hopkins University
Baltimore, Maryland
Russell H. Taylor, widely hailed as the father of medical robotics, was recently selected to receive the 2015 Honda Prize for his crucial role in the early development of medical robotics technology, for his mentoring of students and other researchers in the field, and for his continuing contributions as a leader in this science and technology area.
